Overview
The present invention provides a novel planar and compact metamaterial based loaded bow-tie antenna comprising loaded patch bow tie antenna with array of complementary split ring resonator (CSRR) based unit cell loaded on the ground plane having different inter cell gaps along the row and column in which one side of the bowtie antenna is fed through microstrip line and other side of the bowtie antenna is used as loaded patch for multi frequency applications. The CSRR based unit cells show good results for complex permeability, permittivity and refractive index in the frequency range of 10 MHz to 14 GHz with the return loss below -10dB and maximum number of bands is obtained at 4 mm unit cell gaps.
