Overview

The present invention relates a method for the production of hydrogels via single-step free radical aqueous co-polymerization of Acrylic acid (AAc) and 2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DMAEMA) (Poly (AAc-co-DMAEMA) (PAD) hydrogels) with Acrylic acid molar concentration ranging from about 50% to about 90% by weight. The invention also provides for the use of these hydrogels as transparent transdermal wound healing patches which can be used for controlled and sustained drug delivery combined with wound visualization.
