Overview
The present invention relates to a system and method for off-line recognition of handwritten characters where the pre handwritten data on the paper may be captured by the optical scanner or the camera and processed using the statistical recognition technique such as but not limited to Hidden Markov Model (HMM), computational recognition technique such as but not limited to Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and neural network based technique. This system can be used in various places such as but not limited to reading postal addresses present on the envelope, reading cheques and for identification purpose for handicapped people etc.
