Overview

The present invention provides a nanomaterial based medium for the growth of microbes and measuring the growth change in terms of fresh biomass as well as morphological changes in each case. The invention further relates to a medium containing nanomaterials selected from the group of Titanium dioxide (TiO2), Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) and Silver (Ag) nanoparticles useful for the growth enhancement of microbes, more particularly, microbial species selected for studying the nanomaterials, Piriformospora indica (P. indica), a symbiotic fungus and Pseudomonas, a non pathogenic bacterium. A comparison in terms of fresh biomass as well as on the basis of morphological characterization can be made between the fungus spores/bacterial colonies inoculated in the media of different nanomaterials and the control (without any nanomaterials). Further, a method is disclosed for enhancing the growth of an economically beneficial fungus and bacteria using different nanomaterials and their comparison. The nanomaterial treated fungus filtrate is used for the growth of other economically important plants in the field.
