The present invention relates to a multiband antenna fabricated on glass-reinforced epoxy laminate preferably FR4 substrate for global positioning applications. The FR4 substrate has a thickness of 1.4 - 1.7 mm, dielectric constant of 4.1 - 4.6 and loss tangent of 0.02. The structure of antenna is a combination of split ring resonator and E-shaped patch antenna. The present multiband antenna is useful for global positioning applications suited for vehicles, defense, and day-to-day civilian applications.
